I don’t guess I have a lot to say here yet, but in some ways, that’s apropos. 🙂 Buddhism itself is not particularly a religion; you can be Buddhist and some other religion, like Christian or neo-pagan. It’s a way of being, a mindset, a philosophy for the improvement of the world for everyone. The emphasis is on setting aside the ego and working on being compassionate to others. Compassion doesn’t mean you want to give everything to them, it means you work to understand their situation and empathize. And so you come to a better understanding of both yourself and others. And again, it helps the ego to drop away, which helps you focus on what you really need to get done.
I don’t have much in the way of useful links right now, but I can recommend two authors – Pema Chodron and Thich Nhat Hanh. And of course the Dalai Lama, whose writing, personally, just makes me feel warm inside, like a kind friend is telling you an important story.
